Bludgeon: Case of a man who is pleading guilty to rape declared “typical”

In Case against John Mulvihill, the Central Criminal Court regards the case of a man, who is pleading guilty to rape, to be “typical” of the cases before the courts where a young man of “impeccable character” leaves home without any intentions but on “taking a cocktail of alcohol comes to be oblivious as to whether he has committed a sexual assault”. (Ireland, Central Criminal Court, 2012-02-01)

The decision was taken by Judge:

  • Paul Carney
